*** Big Sky "Olde BlueHair" Update ***

I’m sorry to report but they have still not released the Big Sky “Olde Bluehair” yet. If you would like to replace it with something else so we can ship your order please email me (matt_maples@liquidsolutions.biz) with “Bluehiar” as the subject and I will push the order out ASAP. They will have to release it eventually, I really though we would have gotten it long before this.

*** New Beers ***

Russian River Consecration 750ml:

This strong dark ale aged for 6 months inside used cabernet sauvignon barrels with currants added. Rusty brown in color it pours with little head. The aroma is big, sour, and fruity. Classified as a “Wild” ale; the brett notes come through with a touch of that barnyard goodness. The flavor is a mix of berry black current (of course) and hints of cherry and raspberry. I’m so excited to see Russian River’s barrel aged product make it up my way. Stuff like this is obviously limited but I get as much as I can. No bottle limits on this one. 10.5%ABV / 1.092 O.G

Green Flash Imperial IPA 22oz:

This big tasty IPA is a bit tricky for me to get. We tend to go through some long dry spells where we are unable to get any from wholesale. It is in now but I don’t know for how long.

This big IPA starts off with an earthy pine resin aroma. The flavor balances well as the bitterness of the piney hop works well with the upstanding but not over sweet caramel / toffee malt. This much malt is needed to help quell the 100 IBUs and the 9% alcohol brings a touch of spiciness to the mix.

Green Flash Double Stout 22oz:

This thick stout pours a deep black. It aroma is chocolaty with roasted barley and coffee. The flavor is on the sweet side of stout with a solid black malt up front with the aforementioned chocolate and coffee and just a hint of molasses. The body is medium but I expected more from watching it pour. The mouthfeel is smooth and silky

Beer Lao Dark 330ml:

This Laotian dark lager is a brilliantly clear light brown. The flavor has the tiniest hint of caramel and a light spice at the finish. It is quite nice, more flavor than most lagers from that area.

*** New Beers ***

Bayern Killarney Red Lager 12oz:

- From The Berwery -
Brewed for St. Patrick"s Day, Killarney was created to honor the Irish influence on Montana"s culture. Brewed first in February of 1988, before other breweries came out with their versions of an Irish red beer, this beer is one of the brewmaster"s favorites. It is brewed with two-row Harrington pale, carmel, Munich, wheat and German Dunkel malt. Bayern Killarney has an alc. content of 5.7% alc. vol. (14.2% Plato o.g.)

Bayern St. Wilbur 12oz:

- From the Brewery -

There"s nothing better than Bayern"s unfiltered Hefeweizen. This Bavarian Hefeweizen ("hefe" means yeast), combines pure wheat flavor with Bayern"s own strain of yeast.

Bayern"s Hefeweizen is hopped moderately with Hallertauer Perle (Germany), the alcohol content is 5.1% alc./volume (13.1 degrees Plato o.g.). We use malted wheat, two-row Harringtion Pale and carmel malt. Hefeweizen was invented in Bavaria and Bayern Brewing"s Hefeweizen is one of the very few that is actually brewed as it is in Bavaria and by a Bavarian Brewmaster. So if you are interested in this style of beer, try this one first and see how the other ones compare to the original.

At Bayern Brewing we use the recipe of the old "Brauerei zum Schiff" in Kaufbeuren, Germany, a brewery 60 miles southwest of Munich established in 1540. Jürgen Knöller, the owner of Bayern Brewing, apprenticed in this brewery from 1978 to 1981 and brought this original recipe to Missoula in 1987.

Bayern Dancing Trout 12oz:

-From the Brewery-

Dancing Trout Ale is a German Wheat Ale, the filtered version of a true Bavarian Hefeweizen. In Bavaria this beer would be called a Kristall-Weizen (Crystal-Wheat) because of its clarity. Dancing Trout Ale is brewed with malted wheat, pale, carmel malt, and hopped with Cascade hops from Yakima, Washinton. Unlike its British and American counterparts, Dancing Trout Ale is brewed in the Bavarian tradition. You are enjoying a beer that has been aged a minimum of 28 days, versus 7-10 days for the average ale. Dancing Trout Ale is not too strong in alcohol (5.4% by volume) moderately hopped and light in color. Unlike many ales, Dancing Trout Ale is mild with no bitter aftertaste! We dedicate this latest addition to our Bayern familiy of quality German beers to helping preserve Montana"s trout habitat, one beer at a time.

Bayern Pilsner 12oz:

- From The Brewery -

The term "pilsener" is widely used to describe a number of beers available on the market. According to German criteria for a true pilsener, however, the vast majority of them would be unrecognizable as such. By this definition, a pilsener is a lager beer with a light golden color (5-8 color units by European Brewers" Convention standards), a specific gravity in the 11.5-12.5% Plato range, and a hops content of at least 28 EBUs (European Bitter Units). Most so-called domestic "pilseners" fall far short in these categories; Bayern Pilsener easily meets all three (6 color units, 12% Plato, 34 EBUs).

What does all this technical jargon mean? It means you have purchased one of the very few authenic pilseners brewed in America. Reward yourself by enjoying this beer the way it was meant to be served: pour your cold Bayern Pilsener, in two or three slow steps, into the center of your glass (a fluted or "tulip" glass works best). The thick creamy head (the German term for this is "crown") and you have just created the mark of a classic Bavarian pilsener. It is functional, too - the crown holds finely distributed natural carbonation inside the glass and acts as a shelter for this beer"s distintive, hoppy flavor..

Bayern Doppelbock 12oz:

- From The Brewery -
Doppel means double and this beer is double in every way. Bayern Doppelbock became an instant legend when Bayern introduced it in Missoula in December of 1987. Unlike its top-fermenting counterparts, this hearty German Dark Lager beer does not have the rough bite of a porter or a stout.

Bayern Doppelbock is dark, smooth and has plenty of hops (Saaz & Hallertauer Perle) and malt. It has a starting gravity of >18 degrees Plato (7.8 - 8.4% ABV). Bayern Doppelbock is available in bottles and on draft from November through February, just in time for the holidays and the coldest months. Please enjoy this festive beer in moderation and leave your car at home if you are planning to celebrate with Doppelbock.

To welcome Dancing Trout Ale to the Bayern Brewing line of fine beers, an explanation is in order. It’s very likely that you already know this beer by one or two different names. It began in 1987, when it was known as Bayern Brewing’s Light Wheat Ale – the filtered version of our original Hefeweizen.

*** New Beers ***

Full Sail Black Gold Bourbon 22oz:

*** Limit 3 per order please. ***

Now this is one BIG brew. It pours thick and inky black. The aroma is big vanilla and substantial bourbon. The flavor is roasty, coffee and licorice with bourbon, vanilla and oak. This is a stupendous stout with a big wood component. It is a massive heady brew now and should mellow and age well over the next 3 to 5 years

Rogue Sequicentennial Ale 22oz:

I can think of no better way for Oregon to celebrate its 150th year as a state than to raise a pint of beer that was made especially for the purpose. This hoppy amber ale pours a copper in color with two fingers of head. The aroma is grassy and orange from the Willamette hops (only home grown hops for this Oregon brew). The flavor is bitter up front and moves to the balancing maltiness from the Munich barley. The finish is hoppy with citrus flavor and a parting bitterness.

Rogue Deadliest Ale 22oz:

This hoppy (80 IBU) red ale pours a dark amber with plenty of head and some good lacing. Nice floral hops in the aroma along with some caramel from the malt. The flavor had a solid malt component with tones of caramel, brown sugar and a touch of chocolate. The hops pine and grapefruit with plenty of bitter.

Rogue Independence Ale 22oz:

This fresh hop IPA / APA gets its lupins from Rogue’s very own hop fields in Independence Oregon. The color is amber with a touch of haze. The aroma is cirtrus hops along with some earthiness. The flavor is nice and bitter with a grainy malt and piney hop.

*** Back In Stock ***

De Molen Rasputin 750ml:

This massive 11% stout pours a very dark brown with a big, creamy, tan head. The aroma and flavors are roasty of course with a mix chocolate, dark fruit, licorice and a well-integrated earthiness. The body and mouth feel is full, creamy and delicious.

*** New Beers ***

New Belgium Lips of Faith 22oz:

A burgundy red brew that is Belgian funky, oak aged with cherries. The aroma is of cherry, wood, and mild sour acidity. Flemish red in character with juicy cherry, vanilla oak and lactic tart. Very limited supply.

Samuel Adams Chocolate Bock 750ml:

It is both beer and chocolate. Sure, we have other chocolate beers, but none come close to smooth, sumptuous, overwhelming chocolate experience that is the Samuel Adams’ Chocolate Bock.

It is a well crafted complex Bock beer that uses plenty of roasted malt and just the right amount of hop (not too bitter). The beer is then aged on a bed of rich chocolate. Make no mistake, this is not your ordinary pint of beer but rather dessert beer at its finest. It is certainly nice to see some of the finer Sam Adams’ beers hit this market but it is in limited quantity. It pours almost black with a hint of ruby red. The head is ample and fluffy. The aroma is sweet and chocolaty. It has a medium full body with a bit of creaminess. The flavor is mainly cocoa with bready/nutty tones and a touch of fruityiness. If you let it warm a bit you’ll get more of the roasty barley character and the hops peek though more.

Lagunitas Ruben and the Jets 22oz:

This imperial stout pours a dark dark brown with ruby edges. The head is small and tan. The aroma is roasty with coffee and chocolate. The flavor is smooth with sweet chocolate, molasses, and brown sugar. Great stout, which is the last in the Zappa series.

Pyramid Rollick 12oz:

This amber lager is orange/copper with little head. Light cystal malt aroma with a whiff of hop bitterness. It has a great soft, medium full body that was a great surprise from a lager (I expected something lighter on the tongue). The flavor is malty and toasty up front with a grassy hop bitterness in the mid to late pallet.

*** Back In Stock ***

Midnight Sun CoHoHO 22oz:

This is a great, massively hoppy and malty IPA from our friends up in Alaska. Chestnut brown in color, the aroma is overwhelmingly piney hop with a whiff of sweet malt at the end. It has a flavor that matches the aroma, hoppy pine first then a mellow malt character finishing with an ample bitterness.

Rogue XS Imperial IPA 750ml:

Rogues Imperial IPA. Big hoppy and strong.

Sorry about these next two dropping off the site. We were caught short but they are now available so if you tried to order them in the past and couldn't, please try again. We should be able to keep them in stock for the next month or two.

Deschutes Bond Street Hop Henge 22oz:

New label, awesome beer!! Ummmm, hop-elicious. Who cares what this thing looks like; the first thing to hit you as you pour this baby is the resinious, cirtusy pine aroma. It smells like walking into a hop storage cooler. But after that you will notice a big head comes rolling out but does not stay long. The color is deep amber with a copper tint. Now as the more volatile aromas boil off you can notice a fruity orange component as well a hint of crystal malt. The aroma is superb, in fact I am delaying trying a taste just so I can full appreciate its beautiful aroma. The flavors are all about the hops as well. Medium body with a bit grapefruit hop flavor and as that hop hit dies down the flavor moves into a fruity orange and woody hop mélange. Although this has a good hop bitterness it is not overpowering; the malting is just enough to balance the bitterness but not so much as to detract from this awesome hop flavor. For a hop driven beer to get my A+ two thumbs up rating, it has to be complex, balanced, and drinkable. Hop Henge is all that and more.

Full Sail SlipKnot IPA 22oz:

This years Slipknot lives up to its moniker of Imperial IPA and then some. It pours golden in color with a tint of copper. The brew was ampped up to 80 IBUs with Warrior, Simcoe, Crystal and Centennial hops. This gives is a powerful bitterness and a citrus/fruity hop flavor. Although they put in some Crystal and Munich malts into it to add some depth I can not say that is a truly BALANCED brew, but if you are a hophead of the highest order you will truly appreciate the skill and hard work John Harris put in to create this beauty.

A limited supply of vintage 2001 Sierra Nevada Bigfoot is now available.

This massively hopped barleywine ages well for many many years. As it ages the hop bitterness will round out and not be so sharp. The malt profile will intensify, become nutty and will come across as a brunt caramel flavor. It is truly one of the classics in the “Aged Beer” category.
