Moylans Hopsickle Imperial Ale

Moylans Hopsickle Imperial Ale 22oz:

Back In Stock!!

If you ARE looking for a hop monster, this is it. This 9.2% behemoth is so loaded with hops that it makes your saliva glands kick into high gear. This gives the beer a weird (but very pleasant) juiciness you don’t usually find in a beer. It pours a deep copper with a large head. Its aroma is piney with a hint of grapefruit. The flavor is of tart fruity hops with the pine backing it up. There is malt in there someplace but for the life of me I can’t really pin it down due to the overwhelming assault from the hops.

Avery Maharaja Imperial IPA

Avery Maharaja Imperial IPA 22oz:

Back In Stock!!!

Uuuummmmmm deep hop goodness. This red / copper colored beer pours with plenty of head. The aroma is of big citrus and fruity pineapple hop character. It has a toasty sweet malt to balance the huge spicy floral hop bitterness. At 102 IBUs and 9.72% it is an imperial in every sense of the word. Although Imperial IPAs are all about the hops I would be interested to see what this beer is like in 3 or 4 years. It is excellent now and has some awesome aging potential due to the forthright malt offering.

Fiddlers Green IPA

Fiddlers Green IPA 12oz:

Deep golden with a flash of orange and a good size head that falls quickly. The aroma is of a citrusy orange character (not grapefruit). The flavor is of light crystal malts then a big orange hop flavor and a more bitter citrus rind finish.

Fiddlers Green Blond

Fiddlers Green Blond 12oz:
Straw yellow in color with a thing tight head. The aroma is of pale malt and a touch of spicy hop. Light fruity flavors come though first with a light spicy hop flavor and a smooth texture.

Fiddlers Green Amber

Fiddlers Green Amber 12oz:
Appropriate enough, this beer pours quite amber in color with a thin head but plenty of carbonation for the style. The aroma is lightly malty but mostly of grassy hops. The flavor is grassy floral hops up front, fruity mid pallet and a light bitter finish that lingers well.

North Coast Old Stock Ale 2007

North Coast Old Stock Ale 2007 12oz:
This 11.7% powerhouse is a brew to be reckoned with. It is great now and will be awesome one to three years from now so do not be afraid to put some up (I know I will).
Pours hazy brown with a tint of copper. The aroma is of toasty malt, a whiff of smoke and dark dried fruit. Malty and a touch sweet up front with a fruity mid-pallet and at this point it has a dry hop bitterness at the end which should mellow out nicely with age. This is definitely a grade A beer that should be part of anyone’s beer cellar.

Midnight Sun Artic Rhino

Midnight Sun Artic Rhino 22oz:

This dark brown coffee porter pours with a nice tan head. The aromas are of roasted barley, chocolate and a ton of coffee. The malt aromas carry over into the flavor along with light hop bitterness and once again a ton of coffee. For those of you who love coffee or just want to have a beer with breakfast, this is the one.

Pike Old Bawdy Barley Wine 2006

Pike Old Bawdy Barley Wine 2006 12oz:

OMG!!! This is one hell of a barley wine. This beer pours a tawny brown with a good head. It has a malt and fruitiness like a Full Sail Old Broardhead but more hop presence than a Rogue Old Crustacean. You get a malty caramel hit up front with a light fruitiness then a powerfully bitter hop finish. It states a 90 IBU rating but this beer has more apparent bitterness than most 100 IBU beers I’ve tasted. The big hops and the 10% alcohol will allow this barley wine to age beautifully for 10 years plus. It has been a number of years since Pike made a batch of Old Bawdy; I think the last vintage we have seen in a bottle was 98 or 99. If anyone out there knows for sure please drop me an email, I would like to know.

Koningshoeven Quadrupel

Koningshoeven Quadrupel 750ml:

Without going into too much mind numbing detail, this brewery from the Netherlands once brewed the “La Trappe” label and was an official “Trappist” ale. They then changed the brewery around and lost their “Trappist” status. The “La Trappe” label has since disappeared and the brewery is now brewing under the “Koningshoeven” label and has regained it official “Trappist” designation.

Koningshoeven Tripel

Koningshoeven Tripel 750ml:

Without going into too much mind numbing detail, this brewery from the Netherlands once brewed the “La Trappe” label and was an official “Trappist” ale. They then changed the brewery around and lost their “Trappist” status. The “La Trappe” label has since disappeared and the brewery is now brewing under the “Koningshoeven” label and has regained it official “Trappist” designation.

This outstanding Trappist Tripel pours a little darker than most at a golden with red tints. The aroma is sweet and fruity with plum and pear components with whiffs of banana. The mouth-feel is creamy and the flavor is of plum and spicy coriander.

Mad River Double IPA

Mad River Double IPA 12oz:

Hazy amber in color it pours with a small white head. The aroma is almost all hops with orange, pine and grapefruit. The sweet caramel malt flavors peek through but only for a minute. The hop flavor comes bursting through with a resinous orange quality with plenty of bitterness and a light balancing sweetness. The finish is dry and warming with 8.6%.

Alaskan IPA

Alaskan IPA 12oz:

The color is a deep gold and the head is small but appropriate. The aroma is heavy floral from the hops and lightly of pale malt. The flavor has an upfront bitterness and a light biscuit malt flavor with a dry clean finish. Although Alaska is about as North West as one can get, do not expect a NW style IPA; that is do not expect an overwhelming bitter hop character. Balance and subtlety is what pulls this beer into a cohesive, enjoyable beverage.

Delirium Tremens 330ml

Delirium Tremens 330ml 330ml:

Now available in the 330ml single serving bottle. This Strong Belgian Golden style ale pours a vibrant yellow color with a voluminous head. Huge spicy fruity aroma. The flavor is sweet honey fruity tones with spicy alcohol notes. Nice and warming going down. It is a true Belgian classic.

Alaskan Amber 22oz

Alaskan Amber 22oz 22oz:

Alaskan Amber is an alt, a beer style derived from a German word meaning “old.” Alts are fermented more slowly and at colder temperatures than most ales, which contributes to Alaskan Amber’s balance and smoothness. This beer is based on a Gold Rush-era recipe from a brewery in the Juneau area. It is richly malty and long on the palate, with just enough hop backing to provide balance.

Ale Smith IPA

Ale Smith IPA 22oz:

It pours a nice peach hue with a dense sticky head. Nice pine/citrus/resin hop aroma. Big bitterness mingles in with a medium body and slight doughy malty flavor. The pale malt character comes though as it warms a bit and it takes on a touch of sweetness. A fine and well placed fruity bitter finish makes this an outstanding IPA to remember.

Pelican Bridal Ale 2005

Pelican Bridal Ale 2005 750ml:

This Bière de Garde style pours a glowing amber brown. It’s head is creamy but not real tall. The aroma is sweet with ripe raspberry and strawberry not and a hint of spice. The flavor is of cherry and raisin with cinnamon and black pepper.

Pelican Saison

Pelican Saison 750ml:

This saison pours a hazy yellow with an ample head. The aroma is grassy with pale malts and light citrus. The flavor is of hay, coriander and tropical fruit. It finishes dry and has a smooth medium body mouth feel. I was only able to get two cases; once they’re gone they’re gone

Labels:

Pelican Grand Cru

Pelican Grand Cru 750ml:

Pelican’s Grand Cru pours a rich brown and has a thin head but that will probably change as it ages. The aroma is of cake with a whiff of roastiness and dark fruit. The flavor is of deep brown malts, plum and raisin with lightly bitter finish. This is an excellent aging beer. With time the head should get bigger and the finish should smooth out some and the fruit flavors should come forward more. I was only able to get two cases; once they’re gone they’re gone.
