Thomas Hardys Ale 2006

Thomas Hardys Ale 2006 8.5 oz:

The 2006 release is here. Yet another fine vintage of T.H.

This is an Old ale in the finest tradition. It pours with a small but dense head and deep amber/brown in color. The aroma is malty but not sweet. The flavor is INTENSE malt. It is smooth in texture and piquant in flavor. It is all about the malt. Some fruitiness from the yeast or the hops but it is hard to tell over the massive malt character. The 11.7% alcohol does not get in the way, no heat, not even that prickly spiciness you some times get with that level of alcohol. This is one tasty Old ale what will continue to improve with age. To age T.H for 5 to 10 years is not uncommon. I know I have some 99 in my cellar and will probably compare these two side by side just for fun.
